Reduced induction period

Regulation 3.2 of Induction for Newly Qualified teachers (England): Statutory Guidance for Appropriate Bodies, Head Teachers, School Staff and Governing Bodies (2018) provides discretion for Appropriate Bodies (ABs) to reduce the length of the induction period to a minimum of one term. This regulation is designed for exceptional circumstances and will inevitably apply on a less regular basis.

The document below is designed to help schools assess whether exceptional circumstances might apply and sets out a protocol for schools wishing to apply to the AB for consideration of this. The AB will visit the school to evaluate the evidence.
